Insulation
Insulation comes as an optional extra for all our electric garage doors at Dominator Christchurch. If your garage is connected to your home, garage door insulation is just as valuable as anywhere else in your home. The thermal properties of insulation are expressed as an R-value, with a higher R-value being better at reducing noise and regulating temperature.
There are two types of insulation for garage doors – polystyrene and foamed-in-place polyurethane. Polystyrene comes in sheets that fit between the front and back panels of the door. Garage doors with polystyrene insulation can be thicker, but tend to have a lower R-value than polyurethane-insulated doors.
